Department SSD Institute for Mind and Biology: Staff and Temporary Employees About the Department The Institute for Mind and Biology at the University of Chicago enables research to answer fundamental questions about the mind and its dynamic interaction with the biological systems of the body. Our Researchers seek to understand the relationships between the mind, the brain and the body in health and in disease. Our Institute is unique in bringing together a diverse group of researchers who investigate these questions in different model organisms using state of the art techniques. The Brain Bridge Lab deals with the bridge between perception and memory. Specifically, we research questions about the perceptual inputs and outputs of the human memory system. Job Summary This role performs routine assignments related to scientific research projects. Ensures compliance of research activities with institutional, state, and federal regulatory policies, procedures, directives and mandates. Analyzes possible solutions using standard procedures. Writes articles, reports and manuscripts. Assists in drafting presentations on research findings. Responsibilities Performs data analysis and manages data collection files. Monitors compliance with institutional, state and federal regulatory policies and procedures, as necessary and appropriate. Provides general administrative support to, and interacts with, laboratory staff and research assistants under the direction of the principal investigators. Installs, sets up and performs experiments. Maintains technical and administrative support for a research project. Analyzes and maintains data and/or specimens. Conducts literature reviews. Assists with preparation of reports, manuscripts and other documents. Performs other related work as needed. Minimum Qualifications Education: Minimum requirements include a college or university degree in related field. Work Experience: Minimum requirements include knowledge and skills developed through < 2 years of work experience in a related job discipline. Certifications: --- Preferred Qualifications Education: Bachelors degree in psychology or related field. Experience: Background in a similar laboratory environment. Technical Knowledge or Skills: Knowledge in relevant scientific field. Knowledge of research techniques or methods. Knowledge of regulatory policies and procedures. Knowledge of Matlab Psychophysics Toolbox. Working Conditions Laboratory environment. Exposure to laboratory chemicals. Sit for up to 2 hours. Stand for up to 2 hours. Use computers extensively for up to 2 hours.
