Job Description: This position partners closely with the Channel Sales team to improve sales resource utilization and drive pipeline growth through indirect sales channels. The role is responsible for identifying, qualifying, and advancing sales opportunities through inbound and outbound engagement with partners, VARs, and prospects using phone, email, and social media. The ideal candidate brings a consultative, resultsdriven approach and thrives in a collaborative, quotabased environment. This role plays a key part in expanding channel relationships, uncovering new business opportunities, and supporting the execution of Vertexs channel sales strategy. ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Qualify and disqualify inbound and outbound software sales leads generated through channel partners and campaigns Manage inbound inquiries from partners and prospects, including followup, qualification, and opportunity setup Conduct daily outbound prospecting to partners, VARs, and channelsourced leads Identify and develop new business opportunities through partnerled account penetration strategies Guide prospects and partners through the Vertex sales process to advance opportunities toward close Understand prospective customer business challenges and align Vertex solutions to stakeholder needs Demonstrate working knowledge of Vertex products, services, integrations, and competitive positioning Coordinate closely with partner representatives and internal Channel Sales resources to ensure lead visibility and alignment Maintain accurate and current records of all activities and opportunities in Salesforce (SFDC) Collaborate with Sales and Marketing on channel campaigns, trade shows, promotions, and special projects as needed KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES: Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills; fluency in English required (additional languages a plus based on market needs) Strong organizational, time management, and prioritization skills in a fast-paced environment Eight (8) years of education & experience in sales, channel sales, business development, or lead qualification, preferably in software, SaaS, or technology environments Demonstrated success in quota-based or performance-driven sales roles Effective phone presence with strong listening, negotiation, objection-handling, and problem-solving abilities Skilled at assessing client and partner needs and articulating a compelling value proposition Proficiency with CRM systems (Salesforce preferred), Microsoft Office applications (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint), and nice to have experience with sales tech stack tools such as Salesloft, 6Sense, Qualified Chatbot, and ZoomInfo Collaborative and adaptable team player, able to quickly build trust with partners and prospects, and leverage social media platforms (e.g., LinkedIn) for prospecting and engagement EDUCATION AND TRAINING: Bachelors degree in business, marketing, or a related field preferred Equivalent combination of education, training, and relevant professional experience accepted in lieu of a formal degree Other Qualifications The Winning Way behaviors that all Vertex employees need in order to meet the expectations of each other, our customers, and our partners. Pay Transparency Statement: US Base Salary Range: $54,400.00 - $70,800.00 Base pay offered to new hires may vary based upon factors including relevant industry and job-related skills and experience, geographic location, and business needs.* The range displayed does not encompass the full potential of the role, which allows for further growth and career progression.
