Job Posting: Cook Part-Time Location: San Joaquin Nursing and Rehabilitation Bakersfield, CA Starting Pay: $16.58/hour Schedule: Part-Time Join Our Culinary Team at San Joaquin Nursing and Rehab San Joaquin Nursing and Rehabilitation is seeking a dependable and experienced Part-Time Cook to prepare nutritious, well-balanced meals for our residents in a safe, clean, and supportive environment. Key Responsibilities Prepare and cook a variety of meals in large quantities according to prepared menus and portion control guidelines Follow special diet requirements, including pureed and therapeutic diets Maintain a clean, organized, and sanitary kitchen and cooking area Record food temperatures and ensure meals meet safety standards Assist with serving meals and cleaning cooking areas and serving carts Ensure sanitizer solution is properly maintained and used Present meals in an appealing and appetizing manner Report any resident concerns or issues to the Administrator and/or Director of Nursing Support the orientation and training of new dietary staff Supervise dietary staff in the absence of the Dietary Supervisor Ensure all cleaning schedules are followed consistently Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent Minimum one year of cooking experience in a hospital or long-term care facility Ability to read and follow recipes and technical procedures ServSafe Certification (must obtain and maintain) Knowledge of PointClickCare (PCC) preferred Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and stand/walk for extended periods Must remain in good standing with the Department of Public Health Skills & Competencies Ability to work efficiently and harmoniously with all departments Strong understanding of portion control and food safety practices Solid communication skills and the ability to respond to staff and resident needs Flexible, cooperative, and able to work under supervision or take the lead when needed Strong reasoning and problem-solving abilities in a fast-paced environment If youre passionate about preparing quality meals and making a difference in the lives of others, apply today to join the team at San Joaquin Nursing and Rehabilitation in Bakersfield.
