Job Description: Infection Preventionist Serves as Hospital Infection Preventionist and implements the Hospital Infection Control Program SKILLS AND ABILITIES Demonstrates the ability to use a personal computer and various software programs applicable to the position Demonstrates the ability to operate applicable office equipment Exhibits the ability to communicate effectively with hospital leadership, departments, & with the public Exhibits the ability to maintain confidentiality, think and act independently with minimal supervision Maintains regular, consistent and punctual attendance at the assigned job location EDUCATION/CERTIFICATIONS/LICENSES/DEGREES Certification in Infection Control within 27 months Bachelors of Science Degree in Nursing, Epidemiology or related field (or the equivalent) For Registered Nurse: Licensed to practice as a Registered Nurse in the state of Oregon BLS certification must be obtained by the last day of the month after the 60 day grace period (For Registered Nurse only) For Medical Laboratory Scientist: Minimally must meet current qualifications listed under section Clinical Laboratory Personnel Requirements defined in the federal Clinical Laboratory Improvement Amendments Act of 1988 (CLIA-88) and Oregon Department of Human Services Regulations, College of American Pathologists (CAP) and Joint Commission standards. CAP reserves the right to set requirements that are more stringent than those of CLIA-88. Bachelor of Science degree in Medical Technology or Clinical Laboratory Science (Copy of academic degree or transcript will be required upon hire) Registry as Medical Technologist with the American Society of Clinical Pathologists (ASCP) or equivalent (i.e., certified in California, AMT with Human Health Service HEW & NCA) preferred EXPERIENCE Five (5) years of experience in healthcare, with progressive experience in the field of infection prevention GENERAL INFORMATION Union Affiliation: None The above statements are intended to describe the general nature and level of work being performed by individuals assigned to this position.
