As a Senior Scientist in Process Modelling at AstraZeneca, you'll collaborate with digital specialists, scientific authorities, and project leaders across our global network. Your mission? To champion sophisticated modelling solutions and propel drug development from clinical trials to commercial production. Accountabilities: Translate sophisticated pharmaceutical process problems into robust mechanistic models, providing actionable insights to accelerate drug development projects. Collaborate with experimental scientists from a diverse group of backgrounds to uncover new modelling opportunities and strategically guide experimental design. Establish strong, collaborative relationships within the digital and broader product development communities to improve the progressive impact of modelling and simulation. Drive organizational digital transformation by advancing standard processes and advocating for the application of ground breaking digital tools, including making them available to agentic AI systems. Develop, validate, and deploy modelling and simulation protocols to support scientists across the wider scientific community. Essential Skills/Experience: Masters with 4+ plus years or a PhD in chemical engineering, mechanical engineering, or related discipline, ideally with specialization in process modelling with 0-2 years of experience. Extensive knowledge of process modelling fundamentals and demonstrable experience applying these principles to the development of industrial-scale products or processes. Proficiency in programming and simulation tools (such as Python, Matlab, gPROMS), with a readiness to explore new technologies. Strong collaboration, communication, influencing, and networking skills. Desirable Skills/Experience: Proven experience within pharmaceuticals, biopharmaceuticals, food, cosmetics, personal care, or consumer goods. Experience with one or more of the following techniques: process modelling, discrete element modelling, computational fluid dynamics, system modelling, multiscale modelling, molecular dynamics. Comprehensive understanding of process equipment and technology. Demonstrated ability to proactively introduce and apply novel modelling approaches to advance product development and manufacturing. A track record of scientific publications in the field of modelling and simulation. The annual base pay (or hourly rate of compensation) for this position ranges from $110,687 to $166,031 . Our positions offer eligibility for various incentivesan opportunity to receive short-term incentive bonuses, equity-based awards for salaried roles and commissions for sales roles.
