Full Job Description

Location: Bloomington, Minnesota | On-Site Employment Type: Full-Time Shift: B Shift 5:45 pm 6:15 am Sunday, Monday, Tuesday and every other Wednesday About the Role We are seeking skilled BEOL Equipment Maintenance Technicians to join Polar Semiconductor in Bloomington, MN. In this role, you will monitor, sustain, and improve Back-End-of-Line (BEOL) semiconductor manufacturing equipment in a cleanroom environment. You will partner closely with production team members and area engineers to ensure tools operate at peak performance, minimize downtime, and maintain process stability. This position is hands-on, highly technical, and critical to sustaining high-quality semiconductor manufacturing operations. Key Responsibilities: Complete all required safety training and perform work in compliance with safety policies. Monitor tool performance and ensure uptime on assigned equipment sets. Perform preventative maintenance, repairs, and calibrations on key BEOL process equipment. Troubleshoot and resolve equipment issues using mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic, vacuum, and PC/software skills. Engage in systematic troubleshooting to identify root causes and reduce equipment variability. Assist with equipment installations, testing, and qualification activities. Create, update, and improve PM procedures, check-sheets, and work instructions (controlled documentation). Document all maintenance activities thoroughly in the Equipment Management System. Monitor, analyze, and respond to SPC out-of-control conditions for assigned processes. Communicate tool and area issues to Lead Technicians, Supervisors, and Area Engineers. Support 5S activities and continuous improvement initiatives to increase equipment availability. Provide detailed pass downs to ensure smooth shift-to-shift transitions. Safely perform work in hazardous environments using proper PPE (including SCBA or respirator). Participate in Emergency Response Team activities when required. Qualifications Required: Associates degree in electronics technology or related field; or equivalent military training; or a combination of education and substantial directly related semiconductor maintenance experience. Knowledge of electronics and control systems, AC/DC circuits, pneumatics, hydraulics, robotics, vacuum systems, heat transfer, and fluid mechanics. Demonstrated proficiency troubleshooting electrical circuits and electronic components. Knowledge of test and calibration equipment (oscilloscopes, DMMs). Understanding of SPC principles and ability to respond to process control issues. Strong PC skills and familiarity with MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint). Ability to properly use common hand tools and PPE. Strong problem-solving, time management, prioritization, and multitasking skills. Ability to follow procedures and work with minimal supervision. Preferred: Maintenance experience on 200mm semiconductor equipment such as AMAT Endura and AMAT CMP. Understanding of Metals or CMP semiconductor processes. Strong mechanical and electrical aptitude with demonstrated root-cause troubleshooting capability. Physical Requirements: This position requires the ability to work 12-hour shifts in a cleanroom environment, wearing full cleanroom attire. Employees must be able to: Stand and walk for extended periods. Perform fine motor tasks (using pliers, screwdrivers, meters, etc.) frequently throughout shifts. Bend, squat, kneel, and work in confined spaces. Safely lift, carry, push, or pull up to 50 lbs. Work with high voltage, chemicals, and hazardous gases while using PPE. Maintain focus, accuracy, and clear communication during complex technical tasks. Compensation: $28.00 $34.00 per hour, plus applicable shift differentials (good faith estimate) *This position may require U.S. Citizenship or Permanent Residency status in the future depending on federal requirements.
