Candidates that have strong interdisciplinary skills to work with team members outside of the engineering disciplines and understand related fields (e.g., GIS, permitting, and development) and project lifecycles (e.g., construction and operations & maintenance (O&M)) are encouraged to apply. This position works on-site at Invenergys office in downtown Chicago, IL. Responsibilities CAD Design & Engineering Support Create and maintain engineering drawings and 3D models for thermal generation, utility infrastructure, transmission, and substation projects. Develop site layouts, equipment arrangements, P&IDs, and design packages in collaboration with mechanical, electrical, and civil engineering teams. Interpret survey, hydrology, and site data to support project layouts, access planning, and engineering studies. Support project development and engineering activities from early-stage development through construction. GIS & Data Management Develop and maintain CAD-to-GIS workflows, standards, and data governance processes across engineering portfolios. Establish and manage data schemas, naming conventions, quality control procedures, and project data repositories. Collaborate with GIS and engineering teams to improve data integration, accessibility, and consistency. Evaluate opportunities for automation, scripting, and workflow improvements between CAD and GIS platforms. Prepare maps, technical exhibits, and project materials to support project execution and decision-making. Process Improvement & Technical Standards Develop and maintain CAD-GIS standards, SOPs, templates, technical specifications, and best practices. Support preparation of RFPs, RFIs, scopes of work, and contractor requirements related to CAD and GIS deliverables. Identify opportunities to improve efficiency through standardization, automation, and process improvements. Communicate technical recommendations, workflow improvements, and project updates to stakeholders and management. Minimum Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Engineering, GIS, Geography, Environmental Science, or a related engineering or scientific discipline. Minimum of 5 years of experience in CAD design, GIS, engineering support, infrastructure development, or a related field. Intermediate to advanced experience creating 2D drawings and 3D models using AutoCAD, SolidWorks, CATIA, Revit, or similar design platforms. Experience working with ESRI products, including ArcGIS Pro, ArcMap, and Portal, with the ability to perform geospatial analyses. Experience with QGIS, Global Mapper, or similar tools is a plus. Experience supporting CAD-to-GIS integration and data management workflows for infrastructure or engineering projects. Strong communication, analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and work effectively across stakeholders. Demonstrated initiative, curiosity, and a commitment to continuous learning and process improvement. Ability to identify information gaps, think critically, and independently develop solutions in a dynamic, fast-paced environment. Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, Teams, and OneNote. High degree of integrity and professionalism, with the ability to travel occasionally as business needs require. Experience developing, implementing, or maintaining CAD-GIS integration standards, data governance practices, workflows, or technical specifications. Eligible to work in the United States without the need for employer visa sponsorship now or in the future. Preferred Qualifications Experience supporting energy, utility, transmission, thermal generation, or other large-scale infrastructure projects.
