Grade 7 (Salaried) Position Description: Metropolitan College (MC) is a joint education-workforce-economic development initiative among the University of Louisville, Jefferson Community & Technical College, Louisville Metro, State of Kentucky governments and charter employer UPS. This program offers access to post-secondary education opportunities for eligible employees in the Next Day Air operation at UPS Worldport. Since 1998, MC has helped more than 23,000 students pursue free post-secondary education and on the job training. To learn more about the Metropolitan College organization, log on to our website at http://www.metro-college.com The MC Student Success Specialist IV is to provide holistic, student-centered academic and support counseling focusing on enrollment, financial barriers, and academic planning to support on-time degree completion. This role is integral to the enrollment management process for new MC students, ensuring effective support for student employment, enrollment and retention. This position involves guiding students in fulfilling eligibility requirements for MC benefits, maintaining student interventions, and meeting with students to provide services and coaching aligned with academic and career goals. Additionally, this position provides support during personal and educational difficulties and collaborates with students support systems including local and state workforce development services; JCTC and UofL staff, faculty, and administrators; and UPS partners to assess student progress, needs, and provide targeted support. The MC Student Success Specialist IV engages directly and continuously with a cohort of over 200 students, helping them identify and overcome barriers to academic and professional success. Specializing in support counseling, the specialist addresses personal social, and academic challenges, and connects students to resources and services that enhance accessibility and success in post-secondary education. Additionally, the specialist educates students on effective career planning and connects them to academic, community, and employment resources to achieve their individual goals. This position is responsible for planning and implementing programs through strategic planning, project management, and effective communication. These programs aim to collaborate with campus faculty and staff to improve advising, registration, retention, and program promotion customized for third shift student employees. Additionally, the position customizes career development services (exploration, planning, career networking, etc.) based on promising practices in the field and tailors these services to meet the needs of third-shift student workers. Furthermore, the role entails working with area employers, educators, and corporate partner UPS to develop career pathways for high demand careers (i.e. healthcare, IT, education, etc.) that provide students with career development opportunities and connect students directly to local employers for experiential learning and full-time employment upon graduation. The Student Success Specialist supports Kentuckys workforce development goals by educating students about high-demand careers and helping them understand how their academic goals and work experience at UPS develop essential skills that align with state objectives. This position supports the CREW Career Center (www.crew.cc), a collaboration between Metropolitan College and Jefferson Community and Technical College, in assisting JCTC students with career exploration, planning, preparation, and job search. Specialists offer career coaching both in-person and online and collaborate with faculty and staff to provide tailored career services that align with curricular goals. This position also ensures that all resources, presentations and services are up-to-date with current workforce development trends and issues. MC Student Success Specialists also have opportunities for cross-training, leadership development, and skill diversification to enhance their effectiveness in providing support to students. Target Compensation Maximum: $63,000.00 Target Compensation Minimum: $58,200.00 Compensation will be commensurate to candidate experience.
