Individual annual salaries/hourly rates will be set within the job's compensation range, and will be determined by considering factors including, but not limited to, market data, education, experience, qualifications, expertise of the individual, and internal equity considerations. Responsibilities: GENERAL SUMMARY Provides patient care related to patient evaluation and prescription recommendations. Applies all manners of fitting and adapting assistive devices and coordinates patient care with other health care professionals. Relays pertinent information to the patient, family, and/or involved health professionals. Works under the supervision of other certified staff/leadership per standard procedures and practices. Works under full supervision by leadership, including all notes documentation (i.e., notes, justifications, worker orders), which are co-signed by leadership until Orthiotist is certified. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS Determines the needs of the patient by integrating the information obtained from history, examination, and observation to assess the patient's specific needs. Determine the patient's needs and expectations to provide an appropriate and realistic prescription. Provides information to the patient, family, and involved health professionals regarding a device's potential advantages and disadvantages to ensure understanding of the treatment plan in cooperation with the individuals involved. Analyzes the data obtained by empirical methods to prepare a recommendation. Develops a treatment protocol for the specific patient by reviewing data obtained to determine a particular device recommendation and plan for its use. Evaluates a patients gait by visual observation to achieve optimum prosthetic or orthotic function. Achieves optimum alignment of patients prosthetic/orthotic device by evaluating the sagittal, transverse, and coronal planes to provide maximum function. Demonstrates the solution to a patients prosthetic/orthotic problem by appropriate evaluation to achieve proper function. Communicates information clearly concerning the patient to the appropriate parties to achieve ultimate patient care. Demonstrates proper patient history and financial records documentation using established record-keeping techniques to verify patient care and other pertinent records. Informs the patient of monetary obligations and requirements for compliance with third-party agencies to ensure proper reimbursement. Utilizes procedures for patient care that comply with accepted medical/legal requirements by maintaining current education in these areas to provide appropriate patient care to avoid legal ramifications. Communicates roles and expectations of facility employees by providing documentation to create a professional, cooperative working environment and improve patient care. Interprets data on measurement forms by reviewing numerical values to determine appropriate procedures. Selects proper materials and components based on patient criteria to ensure optimum strength, durability, and function. Evaluates a device to identify deviations from prescribed standards by inspection to correct impaired fit and function. Utilizes an inspection system to systematically assess technical procedures' appropriateness at various stages to reduce product deficiencies. Utilizes sound safety protocols to use appropriate lab materials and machinery to achieve maximum safety. Selects the most appropriate course of action when faced with patient-related problems by applying experience to recognize the limitations in providing proper patient care. Other duties as assigned.
