Posted Job Title Senior Accountant and Control Analyst; Business Services Division Job Profile Title Accountant C Job Description Summary This position reports to the Controller of the Business Services Division (BSD). Under limited supervision, this position is responsible for the daily financial accounting and monthly close process for Mail Services, Penn Children's Center, PennCard and 9300 Administrative Center as well as the monthly consolidation and elimination entries for UPHI, Inc. into the University's general ledger. In addition, this position closely coordinates and oversees the accounting that is performed by third party companies for both of the University's hotels. This position performs monthly analysis of the income statement and balance sheet, including documenting balances as part of the University's Business Control Model (BCM). This position will prepare Unrelated Business Income Tax Filings for review and approval and assist in the continuous review and improvement of the Internal Control Environment. This role will assist in maintaining information in RevenueVision (BSD's contract management software tool) while providing support to business operators on University policies and procedures. Job Description Responsibilities: Perform and oversee the following tasks for all assigned areas within BSD, including Mail Services, PennCard, Penn Children's, 9300 Administrative Center, UPHI, Inc. Hilton Inn at Penn, and Sheraton University City Hotel: Financial accounting and monthly close Income statement and balance sheet financial analysis. BCM responsibilities that include substantiating account balances. Business process reviews to ensure key controls are designed and operating effectively. Contract and data maintenance in RevenueVision Tax filings, including for Unrelated Business Income Tax Other duties and responsibilities as assigned. Qualifications: Bachelor's degree is required along with a minimum of 3 years experience or an equivalent combination is required. Solid understanding of US GAAP principles, US Tax Code, and general accounting responsibilities. Excellent written and communication skills. Ability to multi-task and prioritize items. Customer service mentality that fosters a collaborative environment to solve problems. Ability to work independently with limited supervision. Track record of effectively and efficiently managing competing priorities and meeting goals. Familiarity and experience with Penn's systems and the University's policies are strongly preferred.
