Department: Student Engagement Time Type: Part time FLSA Status: Non-Exempt Job Description: Summary: The Student Engagement student worker will support the Student Engagement team with event facilitation, project management, presentation and flyer designs, data collection, and Engage platform support. An ideal candidate is a self-starter who is detail orientated, a strong writer, creative, professional, and motivated enhance student engagement initiatives across campus. Essential Functions: Support the preparation and execution of Student Engagement led events including Eagles at Night and Thank Clawed Its Wednesday. Provide day-of event support including assisting with set up, breakdown, and on-site logistics such as staffing activities. Create and design presentations, flyers, and social media graphics in Illustrator, InDesign, Power Point and Canva for the Student Engagement Team. Manage relevant material for social media accounts. Compile data using Microsoft excel and manage excel documents with precise detail. Assist with project management. Assist with the AU Market Pantry as needed. Maintain a professional and inclusive office atmosphere. Flexible hours for evening hours as needed. Other duties as assigned. Position Type/Expected Hours of Work: Part-time. 5 - 7 hours per week. Salary Range: $18.40 per hour. Required Education and Experience: This position is restricted to current/enrolled students at American University. Student must have a Federal Work Study (FWS) award. Computer skills (Microsoft suite, Engage, etc.). Social Media skills (Instagram, Snapchat, etc.). Effective communication and customer service skills when working with various stakeholders (faculty, students, visitors, staff). Graphic Design experience required (knowledge of Canva, Photoshop, Illustrator, and Video editing, etc.). Strong organizational skills and capability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously. Flexible schedule to assist with some evening events. Ability to work collectively and independently. Other Details This position is available only to enrolled American University students.
