JOB DESCRIPTION: Manufacturing Engineering Manager The Opportunity This position works out of our Minnetonka, MN location in the Electrophysiology business. In Abbotts Electrophysiology (EP) business, were advancing the treatment of heart disease through breakthrough medical technologies in atrial fibrillation, allowing people to restore their health and get on with their lives. As the Manufacturing Engineering Manager, youll provide leadership and guidance for the Manufacturing Engineers and Manufacturing Engineering Technicians supporting a large-scale commercial product launch. This role is responsible for ensuring the Manufacturing Engineering staff is supporting commercial operations across all shifts via a Front-Line model and growing to meet future ramp plans by leading the team to support all line needs, improve yield and equipment up-time and coordinate cross-functionally with Quality Engineering. Additionally, this role will oversee staff responsible for expanding stations to meet program ramp needs through August, implement MES and other improvement projects. What Youll Work On Recruit, coach, and develop organizational talent. Supervise and provide direction to engineers and technicians to support production needs and other individual assignments. Make decisions regarding work processes or operational plans and schedules to achieve department objectives. Supervise the Manufacturing Engineering team to support daily production initiatives, including equipment maintenance, troubleshooting, calibration, documentation, and personnel training. Lead staff to complete technical activities leading to new or improved products or process, for current programs, next generation programs, and to meet strategic goals and objectives of the company Provide guidance and technical mentorship to engineers and technicians. Improve product quality, labor efficiency, and throughput through the use of Lean manufacturing concepts including leadership for data driven decisions via DMAIC / A3 problem solving techniques. Work with Product Development to ensure Design for Manufacturability and fixture improvements for program Analyze and solve problems from basic engineering principles, theories, and concepts through a wide range of complex and advanced problems which require novel and new innovative approaches or a major breakthrough in technology. Understand engineering principles theories, concepts, practices and techniques. Individual should: Be innovative, resourceful, and work with minimal direction. Have excellent organization, problem solving, communication, and team leadership skills and work effectively with cross-functional teams. Comply with U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) regulations, other regulatory requirements, Company policies, operating procedures, processes, and task assignments. Maintains positive and cooperative communications and collaboration with all levels of employees, customers, contractors, and vendors. Required Qualifications Bachelors Degree Mechanical, Chemical or any engineering or technical degree OR an equivalent combination of education and work experience. Minimum 5 years manufacturing engineering experience. Medical device experience required. Experience leading an engineering team or other engineering initiatives. Preferred Qualifications Strong analytical, problem solving and project management skills. Demonstrated leadership capability in team settings. Demonstrated ability to create relationships, influence and move critical projects forward in alignment with key stakeholders. Ability to leverage and/or engage others to accomplish projects. Strong verbal and written communications with ability to effectively communicate at multiple levels in the organization. Multitasks, prioritizes and meets deadlines in timely manner. Strong organizational and follow-up skills, as well as attention to detail. Ability to work effectively within a team in a fast-paced changing environment.
