Moogs Space & Defense Group in Salt Lake City, UT is a rapidly growing business in a high production facility for missile steering and turret systems. We are eager to welcome a Supplier Development Engineer who join our operational-excellence focused team. You will report to the Materials & Supply Chain Manager and interface with Program Management, Quality, and Product Engineering regarding supplier manufacturing and quality issues to provide guidance to our team and partners. In addition to providing production support, this role will support material estimating and design to cost (DTC) savings projects for development programs. As a Supplier Development Engineer, you will make a critical impact by holding responsibility for the following: Lead supplier risk management activities, supporting quality first initiatives Influence supplier selection Read, evaluate, and interpret drawings for machined and/or electronic components to provide technical support Travel (approximately 30%) to suppliers facilities to evaluate and develop their capabilities, provide support and create partnerships Lead strategic sourcing activities including on-boarding new suppliers and performing manufacturing readiness reviews Supports supplier evaluation, selection, recovery and performance improvement efforts Liaison between the supplier and internal stakeholders To be considered for a Supplier Development Engineer role, heres what youll need to bring with you: Bachelors degree in manufacturing, engineering, or equivalent field 5 years of progressive experience (usually post-education) in the field of manufacturing, engineering, and/or quality or supply chain Demonstrated ability to lead change through influence Skilled in reading/interpreting blueprints/drawings Strong communication and interpersonal skills Expertise in risk management, quality, and supplier development It would be great if you also had: Complex manufacturing experience Root cause investigation and corrective action implementation experience FMEA/PFMEA or other risk analysis methods Quality Assurance, auditing, and compliance Project management Leadership Negotiation Estimating skills Black/Green Belt and/or Lean/Six Sigma certification Trade/export and TINA/DPAS/FAR regulations In return, we care for you by providing incredible work perks including: Financial Rewards: great compensation package, annual profit sharing, matching 401k and the ability to participate in Employee Stock Purchase Plan, Flexible Spending and Health Savings Accounts Work/Life Balance: Flexible paid time off, holidays and parental leave program Health & Welfare: Comprehensive insurance coverage including medical, dental, vision, life, disability, Employee Assistance Plan (EAP) and other supplemental benefit coverages Professional Skills Development: Tuition Assistance, mentorship and coaching opportunities, leadership development and other personal growth programs Collaborative and Welcoming Workplace: Inclusive culture rooted in our values, enhanced by Employee Resource Groups, and team-building activities. Our Salt Lake City site offers a 9/80 schedule, with every other Friday off!
