Full-Time Dietary Cook Location: San Francisco Post Acute Position: Dietary Cook Schedule: Full-Time, MondayFriday, 5:30 AM 2:00 PM Pay Range: $18-$20 per hour Position Summary San Francisco Post Acute is seeking a dependable and experienced Dietary Cook to join our dietary services team. The Dietary Cook is responsible for preparing nutritious, appetizing meals for residents and ensuring the kitchen operates efficiently and safely. In the absence of the Dietary Supervisor, the cook will oversee kitchen operations and assist with supervising dietary staff. The Dietary Cook reports directly to the Dietary Supervisor. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Maintain the kitchen and cooking areas in a safe, orderly, clean, and sanitary manner. Prepare and cook a variety of foods in large quantities while ensuring quality and taste. Follow planned menus, recipes, and portion control guidelines. Accurately prepare and serve special diets as prescribed. Record and monitor food temperatures for all meals. Prepare pureed foods according to dietary requirements. Assist with meal service and food distribution. Clean cooking equipment, preparation areas, and serving carts. Maintain proper quaternary sanitizer solution levels in sanitation buckets. Ensure all cleaning schedules and sanitation procedures are followed. Present food in an appealing manner to enhance residents' dining experience. Work cooperatively with staff across all departments. Participate in the orientation and ongoing training of dietary staff. Report resident care concerns and potential issues to the Administrator and/or Director of Nursing. Perform additional duties as assigned. Supervisory Responsibilities Provide oversight and direction to dietary staff in the absence of the Dietary Supervisor. Support departmental operations and ensure dietary procedures are followed. Demonstrate the ability to both supervise others and work effectively under supervision. Qualifications Experience as a cook, preferably in a healthcare, skilled nursing, rehabilitation, or long-term care setting. Knowledge of food safety, sanitation standards, and special diet preparation. Ability to prepare meals in large quantities while maintaining quality and consistency. Strong organizational and time-management skills. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Reliable attendance and punctuality. Positive attitude and commitment to resident satisfaction.
