Title: Post Doctoral Research Associate Department: Assistant to Chair Reports To: Assistant to Chair Position Summary: We are seeking a postdoctoral research associate to work on problems in the intersection of thermodynamics and mechanics of nanoporous materials. The position is for one year. The start date is negotiable, preferably Fall 2026. The successful candidate will work on the NSF NSF Projects Elastic Properties of Confined Fluids and their Role for Wave Propagation in Nanoporous Media and NSF-DFG Confine: Aqueous Electrolytes in Nanoporous Media: Structure, Dynamics and Electrochemo- Mechanical Actuation led by Prof. Gennady Gor at NJIT. Essential Functions: The project focuses on molecular modeling of fluids confined in nanopores, including both adsorbed gases and electrolytes. The work will involve the applications of classical density functional theory for predicting thermodynamic properties of the fluids in confinement. The postdoctoral associate will develop and utilize molecular modeling tools, and work closely with experimentalists to test the predictive capabilities of the models. Pre-Requisite Qualifications: Recent PhD in Physics, Physical Chemistry, Chemical Engineering or related field with a research background in molecular simulation or classical density functional theory; a track record of publications in high-quality journals. Preferred Qualifications: Knowledge of adsorption fundamentals, and experience in modeling adsorption in zeolites. Experience with SAFT DFT. Proven ability and interest in interdisciplinary work. Experience in working closely with experimentalists. At the university's discretion, the education and experience prerequisites may be exempted where the candidate can demonstrate to the satisfaction of the university an equivalent combination of education and experience specifically preparing the candidate for success in the position.
