POSITION SPECIFICS The Penn State Breazeale Reactor is looking for an Engineering Technologist to join the Team! This position will supervise and operate the reactor as a licensed Senior Reactor Operator. The Duty SRO is responsible for all activities of the facility while on duty. Supervise and perform services for semiconductor customers in the FNI and FFT. Receive, prepare for irradiation, analyze samples after irradiation and return samples to customers in accordance with NRC and DOT requirements. Maintain certification for shipping of limited quantity samples provided by RPO. Job Responsibilites: Report results to customers for all samples. Take, prepare and analyze waters samples from Breazeale Reactor Heat Exchanger and Combustion Laboratory to comply with NPDES regulations. Prepare reports for submission to PADEP on water quality. Responsible for maintaining gamma spectroscopy counting systems and ensuring systems are filled with liquid nitrogen on a weekly basis. Responsible for maintaining gas flow proportional counters and ensuring an adequate supply of P-10 gas is available for their use. Prepare billing for FNI, FFT and Neutron Transmission customers. Maintain Senior Operator Operator's license through examination and evaluation by USNRC (percentage given is for maintenance of license - includes minimum medical standards that must be met. Participate in emergency preparedness training and drills as part of the emergency response team. (24/7 on-call SRO for emergency response). Develop and/pr modify procedures to comply with regulatory changes within established facility procedures, technical specifications, and safety analysis. Actively participate in the operator/senior operator requalification program by periodically helping to administer requalification exams and training seminars, and by fulfilling the proficiency and requalification requirements in the Breazeale Reactor's requalification plan. MINIMUM EDUCATION, WORK EXPERIENCE & REQUIRED CERTIFICATIONS Bachelor's Degree 1+ years of relevant experience Required Certifications: None A Federal background check is required and candidates must meet the minimum physical performance requirements of 10CFRSS and ANSI/ANS_15.4 {2007). Selected applicant must pass additional federal background investigation and Environmental Health and Safety Radiation Worker qualification orientation. The position is normally assigned to day shift but occasional weekend and evening work may be required. The position has rotating call-out duties and for emergency response should be able to report in less than one hour. The facility is a regulated drug-free workplace and applicants must pass drug screening and are subject to random and for-cause testing. Vehicles and personal property may randomly be subject to search upon entering and exiting the facility.
