We also have 4 other regional locations in the City, where the Director may visit and attend to specific motor vehicle branch or employee needs. Employees must work within the state of Colorado on their off-site days. Who We Are & What Youll Do The Department of Finance (DOF) is responsible for the fiscal health of the city. The DOF leads fiscal analysis and guidance, property assessments, budgeting, accounting functions, enforcement of fiscal policies, practices and procedures for the entire City and County of Denver. The DOF fulfills the state statutory responsibilities for tax assessment and collection. DOF also manages the Citys debt portfolio and investment portfolio. About Denver Motor Vehicle Denver Motor Vehicle (DMV) is authorized as an agent of the State Department of Revenue as outlined in the Colorado Revised Statutes to register and title vehicles and to collect, record, and deposit all taxes and fees prescribed for vehicles owned or operated by residents and business owners within the City and County of Denver. The Denver Motor Vehicle Division is seeking a highly capable, strategic, and servicedriven Deputy Director to join our leadership team. This Deputy Director will partner with the existing Deputy Director and the Treasurer to ensure the effective delivery of titling, registration, and customer service operations across the City and County of Denver. In this role, you will provide operational leadership to our seven Motor Vehicle Branch Officesboth residential and commercialand guide branch managers and frontline teams in delivering efficient, consistent, highquality customer service. You will also support strategic planning, policy implementation, staff development, and organizational improvement efforts that strengthen DMV performance today and prepare us for the future. Key Responsibilities: Operational Leadership & Branch Oversight Oversee and support Branch Managers across seven branch operations, ensuring accurate, timely, and customercentric delivery of titling and registration services. Lead operational planning for branch activities, staffing models, workload distribution, and performance monitoring. Ensure consistent application of policies, procedures, and work standards across all DMV locations. Resolve escalated operational challenges and make decisions requiring interpretation of law, rule, and policy. Foster strong relationships with community partners, stakeholders, and customer groups to ensure awareness, support, and continuous improvement of DMV services. Strategic, Policy, and Program Leadership Support the development and implementation of annual and multiyear strategic plans, operational goals, policies, and procedures for the Motor Vehicle Section. Implement initiatives aligned with departmental goals and KPIs to optimize DMV performance. Recommend improvements to laws, policies, operating procedures, and resource allocation based on operational insights. Assist with or lead operational improvement projects, process redesign efforts, and innovation initiatives that enhance the customer experience. Leadership of People and Culture Coach, mentor, and develop Branch Managers and frontline staff to build a positive, accountable, highperforming team culture. Support departmentwide employee engagement initiatives and staff development programs, including succession planning. Communicate agency updates, goals, and expectations through regular meetings and proactive staff engagement. Budget, Reporting, and Operational Performance Work closely with the Treasurer and departmental leadership to support budget development, monitoring, and operational cost management. Review and utilize performance dashboards, branch metrics, and operational data to guide decisionmaking and drive continuous improvement. Ensure branch operations meet established performance benchmarks and contribute to DMVwide KPI achievement. Stakeholder Engagement & Representation Collaborate with internal agencies, City & County partners, statewide MV partners, and other jurisdictions as needed. Represent the DMV at meetings, committees, or public forums as assigned. Conduct complex public contact, including written correspondence and highstake customer or stakeholder interactions. Other Duties as Assigned Provide leadership continuity and operational stability during staffing transitions. What Youll Bring Our ideal candidate has some or all the following experience, skills, and characteristics: At least three years of supervisory or management experience leading staff, supervisors, managers, or operational teams in a fast paced, high volume, customer-facing environment. Previous managerial experience within a motor vehicle administration, DMV, or similar vehicle titling and registration environment. Strong leadership skills with a demonstrated ability to coach, develop, and motivate high-performing teams. Ability to thrive in a high-stress operational setting while maintaining exceptional customer service. Strategic thinking skills with the ability to balance competing priorities and operational demands. Ability to adapt service delivery to meet the needs of diverse customer groups, including residents, dealerships, commercial fleets, and businesses, while ensuring fair and consistent application of policies. Required Minimum Qualifications Education requirement: Bachelor's Degree in a related field based on a specific position(s). Experience Requirement: Three (3) years of experience at the type and level of functional or operational management, which must have included management of professional individual contributors. Education/Experience Equivalency: One (1) year of the appropriate type and level of experience may be substituted for each required year of post-high school education. Additional appropriate education may be substituted for the minimum experience requirements. License/Certifications: Requires a valid Driver's License at the time of application.
