JOB TITLE Post-Doctoral Fellow LOCATION Worcester DEPARTMENT NAME Chemical Engineering - NFR JM DIVISION NAME Worcester Polytechnic Institute - WPI JOB DESCRIPTION SUMMARY We are seeking a Postdoctoral Researcher to lead techno-economic analysis (TEA) and life cycle assessment (LCA) of advanced bioenergy systems and sustainable waste conversion technologies. The role involves evaluating the economic viability and environmental footprints Of emerging thermal and chemical processes. JOB DESCRIPTION Key Responsibilities TEA & LCA Modeling: Build robust mass/energy balances, cash flow models, and LCA frameworks to quantiW economic performance and environmental impacts with parallel tech-tc-market analysis. Data Integration: Translate experimental and thermodynamic data into commercial-scale projections and simulation workflows Research & Dissemination: Author peer-reviewed journal publications, technical reports, and sponsor deliverables. Mentorship: Collaborate with experimental researchers and assist in guiding graduate students Qualifications: Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering or a closely related discipline. Demonstrated research experience in TEA and LCA within preference for bioenergy, biorefineries, or circular economy systems Proficiency in process simulation tools (e.g., Aspen Plus/HYSYS/gPROMS) and LCA databases (e.g., SimaPro, OpenLCA, Ecoinvent). Preference for strong programming skills (e.g. Python) for data processing and computational modeling. Strong publication record and demonstrated ability to present technical results clearly.
