The Opportunity We have an opportunity for the role of Technician Production within our Toxicology Warehouse location in Portsmouth, VA. In this role, you will be responsible for ensuring the safe, accurate, and efficient packaging operation according to Abbott Toxicology PRT warehouse standards and inventory procedures. Your main objective will be to lower operating costs by effectively utilizing Scan Force RF technology during the item-picking process. By following work instructions and achieving zero picking errors, you will help increase productivity. Additionally, you will be responsible for communicating products that are out of stock accurately picking items by Lot # and selecting expiration dates before the verification process. WHAT YOU DO Print orders using computers and printers. Read picking sheets before handling/picking items. Pick items accurately according to customer specifications documented on the picking sheets. Meet department goals for zero picking errors. Operate a manual rolling cart to move products throughout the warehouse during the picking process. Assist team members in picking, staging, loading, unloading, rotation, and storage of products. Maintain cleanliness of the warehouse by sweeping floors, wiping up spills, and keeping products organized. Follow and abide by all company safety rules. Pick the proper lot # and expiration date as directed by the picking sheet. Utilize a company-issued stamp after the picking process. Ensure all notes on the picking sheet are read and understood. Help prepare for end-of-year physical inventory. Record all damage per company policy and handle damage/dents as they happen. Ensure proper handling of all picking sheets and place them on the correct carton(s). Ensure floor space is clean while picking. Be detail-oriented. Sign in & sign out Scan Force RF devices. Pick products from location by level. Conduct daily housekeeping assignments as directed by warehouse management staff. Seek out inefficiencies in warehouse operations and make recommendations. Perform other duties as assigned. EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE YOULL BRING Required: High School Diploma or equivalent. Able to lift to 50 lbs. Static pushing and pulling (frequently) to initiate pallet movement with a pallet jack. Standing/walking (frequently to continuously) on variable surfaces throughout the entire shift in the warehouse. Preferred: Basic math skills to count products. Ability to read product labels and picking sheets. Ability to follow work instructions. Forklift certification, or ability to become certified (company provided). Ability to communicate discrepancies to the warehouse supervisor. Must be able to operate a rolling pushcart, electric forklift, and manual pallet jack.
