Responsibilities: Word processing, budgeting, desktop publishing, presentation, and data management activities, and assists staff with the use of these applications. Composes correspondence, reports, publications, and presentations, including editing and proofreading. Greets visitors, answers and screens calls, provides information and referrals, and schedules appointments. Receives, sorts, and routes mail and performs other mail services. Coordinates and supports department meetings, appointments, and events. Allocates purchases and manages reimbursements. Creates or modifies forms and records. Verifies, processes, and reviews forms, reports, and other documents. Applies, interprets and communicates policies and procedures and serves as a resource for answering questions regarding policies. Supports external communication efforts, including website updates and social media posts. Maintains office supplies and equipment and spaces. Maintains office reference materials including online office materials. May deliver, pick up, or receive documents, supplies, equipment, or materials. May serve as liaison for departmental equipment and service contracts. May participate in the hiring, training, and supervision of student workers and other support staff. Necessary Qualifications: High School Diploma or equivalent combination of education and experience. Three (3) years of related experience. Knowledge of word processing, spreadsheet, and database applications. Ability to multitask and work cooperatively with others. Effective English verbal and written communication skills. Someone capable of being physically in the office, 8-5, as a general rule. Preferred Qualifications: BA or MA in English. Five (5) years of related experience. Outgoing and friendly. Self-directed. Good with budgets and budgeting. Detail-oriented. Graphic arts, social media, or web design a plus.
