Full Job Description

SUMMARY: The NP / PA is accountable to facilitate a quality experience and outcome for patients. The Nurse Practitioner will report to the Medical Director of Weight Management Services and participate in the progress of patients within the scope of Weight Management. The core Success Factors include: Instill Trust and Value Differences Patient and Community Focus and Collaborate RESPONSIBILITIES: Demonstrates a fundamental grounding in nursing theory and practice with mastery of knowledge within a defined content area.Manages Weight Management patients in partnership with the Medical Director to optimize health status and weight management goals.Provides leadership in the development, validation, implementation, and evaluation of standards, policies, procedures, and critical paths to support the patient care delivery model.Assists the medical director to achieve mutually agreed upon weight management goals by providing necessary support, education, and encouragement.Demonstrates advanced physical and psychosocial assessment skills and knowledge of weight management patients.Provides expert consultation for weight management issues promoting increased knowledge and skills for the consultee.Facilitates patient/family education in area of expertise.Annually completes mandatory safety infection control, BLS, and ACLS/PALS.Prescriptive privileges per licensure MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: BASIC KNOWLEDGE:Master's of Science Degree, Graduate of accredited Nurse Practitioner program. Specialty certification required.Baccalaureate in NursingCertified in Basic Cardiac Life Support (BLS).Demonstrates knowledge and skills necessary to provide care to patients with consideration of aging processes, human development stages and cultural patterns in each step of the care process.EXPERIENCE:Two years related experience as RN in acute care hospital setting and preferred 1-2 years' experience as a nurse practitioner.Oncology experience preferredWORK ENVIRONMENT AND PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:General hospital environment with occasional stressful conditions associated with patient care.INDEPENDENT ACTION:Responds to individual patient-care situations demonstrating knowledge and skills acquired through education, certification, and work experience.SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY:None.
